The fad is fading
At any rate, I keep thinking about Livestrong bracelets. Those yellow bracelets raised millions of dollars. But how many bracelets do you see anymore? The press killed a great idea by simply reporting on it. Everyone wants to be ahead of the trend. Once CNN reports on how all the cool kids are wearing yellow bracelets, it ceases to be cool. The people that bought them may have thought they had good intentions but really they just wanted to show off their $2 bracelet. Anyone can give a couple thousand dollars to a charity, but unless they give you a fashion accessory, is it really worth it?
I still wear my white ONE bracelet. I think I know of only one or two other people that do (plus Bono!).
