Inspired by Mills, I’m posting these photographs of my grandparents on their honeymoon. They seem more at ease in these photographs than I’ve ever been. My grandfather had just returned from the war. Anything after war is easy, right?
I am now much older than my grandparents were in this photograph, and yet I still feel like a kid, while these people look like adults to me. They seem to know what they are doing and where they are going; any confidence I exude is fake. I want to chalk it up to self-reflection and introspection, but that’s probably either just rationalization or wishful thinking.
