Saint Patrick, a few facts about the Patron saint of Ireland
He was actually Welsh!
A pirate called Niall of the Nine Hostages captured him an brought him to Ireland where he tended sheep on a mountain in Co. Antrim
He did not actually chase any snakes out of Ireland. It is generally acknowledged that the climate is too cold and wet for them to survive in the wild.
Both the Catholic Church and Church of Ireland recognize him as a saint.
March 17th is a holy day of obligation in Ireland.

St. Patrick led an extraordinary life….Escaping slavery in Ireland, only to return later to witness to the very people who enslaved him. Amazing!
